ukay ukay at baguio

visited baguio, the ukay ukay capital *wink* but unfortunately my stay at the mountain city was too short and i wasnt really able to get out and hunt those really cool and cheap ukay ukay finds, but i have managed to get 2 shirts, and one of those shirts is a hello kity shirt *big grin* which i will post soon.
anyways you can find the best and cheapest ukay ukay finds at the baguio market, as in yun sa wet market. but the best time to visit the wet market is between 6-7 am, 12noon-1pm, and 5pm, but since i was doing some touristy stuff i wasnt able to visit the wet market at all! waaaahhh sigh, well anyways there's still next time :D

also, i know that what used to be bayanihan hotel is now a big ukay ukay store, so if you're visiting baguio this summer go and check out their ukay ukay.
i was only able to visit the ukay ukay shops along session road, actually it is a whole building dedicated to selling ukay ukay stuff but the prices are similar to those in manila, or i didnt dig or stayed long enough to find the best deals. well anyways the prices are still okay and the first night i tried visiting the ukay ukay stores, most of them were already closed! sigh but dont worry i visited them again the next night and found more stores open. will post more

actually even at cebu city i found lots of ukay ukay stores, but most of these stores just have a bunch of piled ukay ukay clothes on tables and its up to you to do the halukay :)

saw prices ranging from 25 to 100 pesos, but wasnt able to really chekc their ukay ukay stuff

3rd floor ukay ukay store

this is the at 3rd floor of the ukay ukay store at hildago street in quiapo,... and i am telling you this store is BIG! about 600 square meters in size so you could imagine how much ukay ukay stuff you can find here!
as with all other ukay ukay stores, the prices for "old stuff" are at a bargain price like 50 pesos each or 3 for 100 thingy... but the new arrivals price range is from 80 pesos

really tons and tons of clothes, shirts, jeans, dress, shorts, as in everything... the last time i visited this shop they were even selling cup D brassieres! LOL OMG i playfully put one of the cap in my head, could pass as a hat :)
they even have bed covers on sale :D

if you're really looking for a bargain ukay ukay store around metro manila, quaipo and carriedo street is the place you should go to. because i know bambang is a well known ukay ukay store but trust me those guys over there are selling their stuff at a marked up price and they are already separating the "signature" items form the rest.. unlike in this store, or any other store at avenida and quiapo, you just have to have the patience and time to look for a really great find.

i think i've already mentioned before that there are lots of ukay ukay stores at quiapo, along hidalgo street to be exact, you can find them in the sidewalk or in those hole in the wall shops. this store with dried fish at the ground floor together with ukay ukay clothes doesnt look enticing, but as i have said before, dont underestimate this stores because they have treasures inside, you just have to know how to find it :)

it's actually a three storey ukay ukay store, the ground floor is actually small and difficult to choose from here, but as you go up the selling area becomes bigger, the second floor caters mostly to mens stuff, but i really liked how they dressed up the manequin :)

Found this quaint ukay ukay store at Cityland Tower 8 in Pasong Tamo, Makati. It's ordinary but not your typical ukay-ukay store. Most of the items are really cute and not used, they even have tags attached to the clothes (i bought a really nice dress from here which i will post separately).

I think i find a treasure store because they also sell signature items, especially bags such as Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Coach, etc. at a reasonable price. You get to own the real deal and not some cheap imitation. Oopps it feels like i'm revealing a treasure loot here LOL , but they're shop is a bit hard to find but you can always ask the guard, it's only at the ground floor of Cityland 8. By the way the name of this ukay ukay store is Connors Retro Clothing

I also liked the fact that the store doesn't smell musty or your typical ukay ukay smell (ukay ukay shoppers would know what smell i'm talking about).

ukay ukay stores at carriedo

i've mentioned in my previous post that i will show you where i bought the two dresses, so here is where exactly i found them...

so where is this ukay ukay store located? it is along the stretch of avenida or carriedo. actually you can find lots of ukay ukay stores along avenida, starting from recto till carriedo. in case you dont know where carriedo is, just ride the LRT and get off at carriedo station.

in case you cant find an ukay ukay clothes or item that you like, you need not worry that your trip is wasted, as i have said this stretch is full of ukay ukay stores (avenida used to be the fashion hub of manila, i guess you can now say its an ukay ukay hub as well hehehe)

to those of you wondering how an ukay ukay store looks like, here it is ...

this is what you'll see inside an ukay ukay store, racks and racks of used clothing sorted by skirts, tops, pants, etc.  this particular store is really small, some ukay ukay store even have bags hanging and display of shoes.

as i have mentioned before be warned, most ukay ukay stores doesnt have air conditioning and no fitting room.  in case you are allergic to dust this aint the place for you but that can be remedied i think by taking antihistamine before shopping.
